183 - Inheritance

"We dare not forget that we are the heirs of that first revolution." - John F. Kennedy

  • Artist Statement

In the heart of summer, we take time to reflect, to sit awhile as the sun moves over our blankets in the park. We celebrate our liberty, remember the fallen, and honor the courage and unity it took those revolutionaries to gift their descendants - us - with this persevering freedom. Much has changed in the last 240 years, but not this: We are heirs to that first revolution, a responsibility we all bear to preserve the future for our children, and theirs. This torch we carry knowing that only in our unity lies our strength. Let us band together, laugh together, and walk forward in hope of that bright future which awaits us. This tile was made throughout the summer of 2016.
