  • Artist Statement

    As one of those people afflicted by seasonal affective disorder - and yes, everyone is to a certain extent, but I feel as though I don't recognize myself come February - I envy the instinctual migration of the monarch butterflies. They know they won't survive if they stay where gray winter exists, and when that first wisp of frigid air blows across the trees, they head south. Perhaps taking a page out of their book and escaping toward the sun for awhile to blow away the chill is the right idea, even when it isn't winter.
